The need for senior citizen outreach programs is great; by 2030, 20% of Americans will be 65 years of age or older, making older Americans one of the fastest-growing demographics in the nation.
More than 19 million elderly people are housed in squalor or insufficiently furnished dwellings that cannot securely accommodate their needs. Global Ag Awareness supports senior citizens in aging at home and in the neighborhoods of their choice.
In order to assess individual requirements, provide necessary house repairs, adaptations, and community services tailored to each homeowner's lifestyle in order to protect their home and their freedom, our local Global Ag affiliates work with human services groups.
We assist in creating a comprehensive strategy for each homeowner so they can safely and securely stay in their houses as they age by taking into account a full network of resources in addition to providing repairs and upgrades.
A health or human services expert conducts the homeowner's first assessment, which focuses on listening to and learning about the homeowner's daily living activities, such as how they pay their bills, clean their houses, interact with others, do errands, and shop.
A Global Ag construction professional conducts a house repair evaluation as part of the second assessment, enabling the affiliate to offer adjustments tailored to each homeowner's lifestyle. For example; adding higher toilets, ramps, rails, and lever door handles could make a house more accessible for senior citizens. Additionally, older persons might require connections to their local area agencies on aging or other extra community resources.
